Amarula Milk Tart Recipe
Ingredients
For the base:
- x1 packet Bakers Tennis Biscuits.
- 100g melted butter.
For the filling:
- x3 egg (seperated).
- 1L of milk.
- 25g of butter.
- 150g white sugar.
- 40ml cake flour.
- 40ml cornflour (maizena).
- 125 ml Amarula Liqueur.
- Pinch of salt.
Instructions
For the base:
- Crush up the full packet Tennis biscuits for the crust.
- Melt 100g of butter and mix in with the crush up biscuits until well combined.
- When ready, line a tart dish of your choice with the crumb crust mixture.
- Set aside base until the filling is ready to pour in.
For the filling:
- Bring to a boil the 1 liter milk, 100ml of Amarula and butter.
- In a separate bowl, mix sugar, flour, corn flour, salt, egg yolks and 125 ml milk to a thick paste.
- Add whilst stirring little by little, the paste to the boiling milk until thick.
- Take off heat and let cool a little.
- Whilst the milk mixture is cooling, whisk the egg whites until almost stiff. Then stir into the warm milk mixture.
- Let it cool a bit before pouring it in over the crust.
- Then after a few minutes of leaving it to cool, poor in the mixture gently over the crust and sprinkle cinnamon over the top in a thin layer.
- Let set in fridge for 3 hours.
Enjoy with family and friends. This is the perfect recipe to take to a braai in the Summer months.
